That adds another layer of complicated to this as I was not aware that the despawn rules were affected by chunk simulation. My simulation distance on my PlayStation world is 8 chunks (I believe). I was maybe 40-45 blocks away from stuff and watching it despawn the other night. I will have to check my simulation, but I am sure it set at 8.
It is possible that I misunderstood the rules of the new despawn mechanics. I’m also not sure of how to upload screenshots from my PlayStation to show what I am saying. But I can figure it out if that would help you.
