Oh. It seems I can fix this if I disabled "Raw input" in the Control > Mouse Settings!

Several time after hitting water and dismounting I've had my horse 'disappear'.

As Blademiss described, I still heard the horse. But in all cases the horse ended up being invisible for me. Disconnecting and reconnecting showed the horse where I was expecting it.

So: "Horse becomes invisible to player when dismounting (in water)" is the better description.

Sorry, I missed the message from February. Checked and version added as requested.

I've seen this issue before (< 1.7). But in my two small latest pens (1.7.4 bukkit server) I've never had a cow or pig escape. They aren't totally packed, but still.
They are in the original spawn chunk. But the spawn was moved and I'm pretty sure that this chunk is now being unloaded.

I've seen issue two myself once. I'm not sure whether I had gone to the nether, a long way away, or just logged in/out.

Could this be a similar issue to mobs escaping from fences MC-2025? Say the horse and fence are in two different chunks and the horse is at the maximum range of the leash when the chunk unloads.

  • The chunk with the horse loads.

  • The horse starts moving.

  • The chunk with the fence loads, leash is connected up to the horse. (The horse moves again and code detects the) leash is too long, leash breaks. Sometimes this will not drop a leash at all (a chance based thing?).

This could also happen with the horse and fence in the same chunk, if the leash is loaded later.

@Daniel King

How does that pushOutOfBlocks logic work with mob traps/crushers? I guess it depends on how far does it look around for a large enough empty space.

I know this should not be used for spam like this, but I can't resist:

Thank you Jeb. The next pre-release will be one I'll eagerly test!

A fix for this seems to have been made by people here, on a related issue:
https://mojang.atlassian.net/browse/MC-2025

On that note Gerard, is it true or just a coincidence that animals (perhaps
chickens a bit more - maybe because they can move more easily because of
their smaller hitbox) tend to want to escape their confinement? Them going
for the corners (and a bit more towards the spawn) could be a result of
that.

If they do, them continuing through a wall might be made more prevalent
because of logic like that.

Great that some of you are looking in such detail at this!

Markku - 07/Mar/13 12:21 AM wrote that you need several minutes' worth bobbing up and down. But to me it happens in less than half a minute. I built a dock somewhat similar to the many examples. The boat hits a half slab, and boom; Hit the ground too hard!

Luckily our hardcore server wasn't really hardcore and I could get back in.
