I know I'm necro'ing an old thread. The purpose of this comment is to add to a knowledgebase, in the hopes that it might help other users with this same issue.
A friend of mine (Divine_Raven) was having issues with Minecraft textures, getting the same error returned as OP mentioned. He had contact Mojang, and Microsoft for support regarding the issue, and the issue could not be resolved.
Turns out the root cause was a malware issue, a program called: 'PremiereOpinion', and others have mentioned: 'RelevantKnowledge'.

I asked him to open his program list, lo and behold, he had 'PremiereOpinion' in there.
