we’ve been in contact with Nintendo switch tech support and Minecraft who pointed us here.
we have a physical game card. With a micro SD card by scandisk logged in through Microsoft account.
went to open marketplace for it to show error codes and force close the game. We reformatted SD card, removed sd card rebooted console, rebooted network, switched networks, manually entered DNS. Cleared cache, logged out of Microsoft, logged back in, deleted updates, checked for corrupt data, redownloaded, removed sd card and started all over. Backed up with save cloud data. Checked for system updates on console, checked for game updates. Checked Microsoft privacy settings. Still no luck with market place loading.
