The game realises that there is a block update and makes the lava flow
When you update, all the worlds that you created using the previous version (before you updated), will need to be remade and this can cause world corruptions, which result in the world being deleted by Minecraft. I have never seen all the worlds being deleted at once. THIS IS A MAJOR BUG WHICH NEEDS TO BE FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
A similar thing has happened to me where I the /fill command and the lighting acts as if it didn't have any blocks above it, making it impossible to turn back to darkness, and this is annoying in my mob farm.
