Same thing happened to me.  Definitely looks weird. My ocean is loading correctly just my cave water and lava is having issues.

I was able to get past one of the ice walls and into the section of the map with the lake and made it into Buster's house through the sky bridge. Buster then opened the door and continues to follow me around. But the toaster was not in the house. I'm sure it was because I haven't actually "talked" to him yet. Hopefully this helps.
