I was "fine".
Upgrade to Yosemite. Which seems to have removed my installed Java 1.6 (6 SE)I do not intend to reinstall Java 1.6 just to keep Minecraft happy.
The work around in the Original Comment still works.Or just Show Package Contents and booting the bootstrap.jar from there.
