The issue still occurs on 1.7.10. Most of the times, the Enderman makes its first approach until the player hits it. Then, when teleporting, it keeps losing interest in the player or just teleports too far out of sight. The enderman is then often seen in an aggressive state with its mouth open, but doesn't try to approach the player. This gets very annoying when attempting to gather ender pearls.
