This started happening to me too today. The issue seems a race condition since the freeze occurs sometimes on the white title screen and sometimes while navigating game selection. A similar behavior occurs both on my iPad Mini 2 and on my iPhone 7 using 1.14.1. It is worth noting that on my iPhone 7 I am not logged in to an Xbox account, so that seems not to be a requirement. Playing on my Android phone works well.
