So the issue is: did anybody else have adware block the proper execution of the Java protocols, if that what this is. Or is there a standard fix for this kind of java execution problems. My other son has minecraft loaded on another win 8.1 box. Is it possible to correlate the configuration of that device with the Lenovo to determine the problem?

No, it has nothing to do with security firewalls but it has the same result. Why is the java loop, whatever that is being interrupted or blocked.
