This issue has not been resolved, and I suspect Auldrick may have not read the full thing. He tried making a map with paper, and only after it failed did he try with other maps to no avail.

I am experiencing the same issue. All my updated maps are completely blank with no option to repopulate them. Resulting in a blank canvas if no compass is used. Do note that in my case all the upgrades were made out of bounds of the original map, but upon reading Deunans query. I can tell that returning to the area does not solve this issue.

Not quite the same issue, but alas, the error I experienced lies with login recognition, since I can't access history or activity or do anything for that matter since I can't login. The Microsoft side works well. It's the Mojang website itself that fails to acknowledge the login...
