My husband and I play together on the same Xbox (he has a live account and I join in) and three times now we've had mobs disappear on two different seeds. The first time neither of us were near the mobs during load in. The second time we had a new seed and again neither of us were near the mobs. The third time I was in the same area as the mobs during saving, however my husband was not, maybe a chunk or two over. When he loaded the save back up our mobs were gone. 

The first two times there didn't seem to be a whole lot of lag, however this last time the game was very slow whenever we were around our mobs, even before they disappeared.

Also, I don't know if it's related, but we also experience the glitch that makes players load in without the correct inventory (empty or incorrect items entirely), and wrong spawn point. However it only happens on mine. Unfortunately I did not join the game after realizing our mobs were gone so I do not know if my inventory was also bugged. It still makes me wonder if it's an issue with save states and less with chunks specifically.
