Actually, i'm using a Pixel 2XL as well. I haven't tried any of those methods but considering what you said, i doubt it'd be successful anyway.

No it isn't, it crashes outright for me while for them it hangs on a white screen. Though someone else said it was a duplicate of a different issue so, your point still stands.
