Depends on if it's in your inventory, or in a chest. If it's in a chest, thats probably a world that is corrupted/reusing data or some sort that makes the game say wait this isn't an item id (poof) its gone.

True, they might not have thought of that. Saying that, some developers only focus on english, which means they may have forgotten about them.
Argh goodness. The glitched characters. Definitely something I hate to see.
