I took a few screenshots, and I found something kind of weird. I thought the lighting bug was only on my Realm, so I hopped onto a single-player world just to check the light levels there. The light levels are glitched on my single-player world as well. Maybe I'm just missing some very basic Minecraft mechanic, but I have a feeling I'm not.
Here are the screenshots:
1. Outside at midnight.

2. Out of curiosity, I then encased myself in cobblestone. Light levels reverted to how they normally are in a dark environment.

3. This is the one I took in a single-player world. Apparently, the bugged light levels don't affect mob spawning.

I hope this helps. And thanks for taking the time to look into this 🙂
