I would also like to add that when i was at spawn i didnt have a starter map and just had some levels that we assume came from the enderdragon’s death xp going through the portal because i got 31 levels but before i had like 8. Also this is like the 5th time that my friend and i have to grind hours for god armour back again. I just got my god armor back and not even 15 minutes later it just disappeared.

This just happened to me yesterday. I was on my friend’s world, and i left and shut my laptop so it was left either idling or sleeping. When i came back, i was at spawn and had nothing. My stuff wasn't on the ground anywhere, my client didnt send a death tracker (the client i use sends a message telling your coordinates whenever you die) and there was no death message in chat. At first we thought maybe I just died and it despawned and there was no death message because i got force quitted out or something but then my friend told me to check my echest and was empty, when previously it had items in it. We had one backup but it was from a really long time ago so we didnt use it. Also, nothing happened to him and when i relogged and relaunched my game a couple of times it didnt happen again.
