I also have this issue, I've had is as long as I remember playing Minecraft and not on any other game. Had this issue with both previous versions of OS X and Minecraft. Used both an external keyboard and monitor, all freeze. CMD-tab also works to unfreeze it, but only when I;m in windowed mode, otherwise nothing seems to work except, waiting for about 30 seconds to a minute. Then it unfreezes and everything seems fine again. Haven't tried the lwjgl update. But in-game this is very annoying, especially when you're on a pvp-server. Hope this issue gets fixed soon...
