This is not a bug. The piston in the middle is powered by both the left and right redstone blocks diagonally upon being placed.

I hope this isn't intended. This has been such a useful feature for me and I'm not sure why it would ever be considered a bug..

Even if they did add an official BUD, this kind of (hopefully) bug would make them much harder to use. For people who actually mind the quasi-connectivity problems, these not causing updates makes them more difficult to deal with.
