I am still seeing this behavior in 1.16pre2. Piglin attacked me when I placed down an ender chest and opened it (I was wearing gold and had just traded with him several times).

I was not expecting this and it was not intuitive to me as a player, even though I was aware they might attack me for opening normal chests.

I would suggest adjusting the algorithm for determining when someone is suspiciously opening a cheat to one of the following:.

  1. A player is opening (or has broken) a naturally generated chest (normal chests and not other variants)  in the nether (not sure if "naturally generated" is tracked now or not, but I think it could be tracked fairly easily).

  2. A player is opening/broken a naturally generated chest in the nether that contains items piglins like (eg gold).

  3. A player is opening/breaen a naturally generated chest in a bastion (should piglins care about anything else? Are other naturally generated chests theirs?)

At any rate I think if a piglin should observe a new chest they should not mind if you are messing with it, and even should asusme it is yours.
