Hi, I'm having the issue as shown in the description: My launcher appears in the Dash, and when pressing Alt+Tab I can see the icon, but no window.
The workaround works for me.
Tested with Oracle Java 8 as well with OpenJDK 8.
As metioned in the comments, opening the launcher using XOrg works as expected.
