I agree with Mustafa. I just got 0.16.1 and my pre-0.16 world still crashes MCPE if I look towards the original spawn point from any direction.

I have similar issues on my Motorola Droid Turbo running Android 5.1. Any pre 0.16 worlds will crash MCPE as soon as they render. I can see the world menu and select the pre 0.16 world but as soon as it is done generating terrain it will crash.
EnderDragon, I didn't let mine go long enough. This time I let it sit and it did finally load the game after a full minute.
