I’ve added screenshots. They show a standard chunk aligned water filled box, with magma on the base and a minecart hopper collection system.
in the screen shots you can see I’ve experimented adding stone blocks above the magma to see if that works. Also you can see the closest water on the floor of the cave. The squid will happily spawn in that when you are closer. It’s out with sim distance on this shot.

I spent an hour scouring caves around the glow squid farm. I found 4 old trading llamas, 3 all huddled together in one little hidden spot. They have been euthanised, and Glow squid are now spawning.
