This doesnt happen only in the nether, It happened to me a few times that creepers/ zombies/ skeletons spawned in between bamboos on the overworld
Actually is pretty normal for a rabbit to not drop meat sometimes, it has a chance of droping it, unlike pigs or cows that aways drop at least 1 meat
You need to open in a beta 1.8 or 1.8.1 version first to open the alpha word in 1.7, anyways is normal to happen those chunck errors when opening a old world in a newer version,hope that this helped
