Dear GoldenHelmet:

I've spent most of my time outside a Plains Village in a flower biome, and there have been NO SPAWNS except rabbits.  My temp base is outside village at 232/-360.

I have seen primarily a few random pigs, a rare occasional sheep, and one horse. But I've spent a long time in the plains and flower biomes without friendly mobs spawning.

This issue is NOT resolved. I should be getting active spawns here.  I've played Minecraft for many years and something is wrong.

@ Preston Le - Actually, I went back to an extensive branch-mining location at level 11-12, where I had found a decent amount of diamonds in the recent past, but since 1.9.0 I could find everything BUT diamonds, including emeralds. After posting this question, I went to a new area at level 11 and after a LONG time spent digging, I finally found ONE cluster of diamonds, but it really does seem like the frequency has diminished, which is what I was wondering about. I had also scoured a few caverns and found none. Did 1.9.0 make diamonds MORE rare?

o62 - I believe I do have slabs around my bed! Holy cow ...  Now that sounds like a glitch that might use some fixing.  I'll give it a try, thanks a lot.

Jonathan Hanzel - I'm not sure what you mean by "after updating my game."  I received the 1.9 update for my Xbox One (Bedrock edition) and I'm not playing on a PC, if that's what you are implying.  Do you mean "after re-building my sleeping quarters to avoid slabs and glass blocks around my bed?"

Stephen: No, I fell into lava while mining in the Nether and died. I then re-spawned at my original world spawn point (OWSP) rather than at my base above, where I had slept. The same thing happened when I died in the overworld, i.e. I re-spawned at OWSP, very far from my base. Note: When I had returned to the Nether, I saw my gear far below before it all disappeared. I could not reach it and lost over 20 levels and all my magic gear, etc... Very painful.

Dieing in the Nether obviously means you re-spawn on the surface, which makes it nearly impossible to get back in time to retrieve your dropped inventory and orbs. I was deep into the Nether, far from my Portal. Plus I had fallen through an unseen gap in the netherrack, plummeting a huge distance, and couldn't have re-traced my path regardless. There was no way I could have gotten back. As such, this should be taken into account. I lost 28 levels and a ton of hard-fought inventory, all from falling thru a hole. It's too harsh a penalty.
