I'm having a similar issue with mine as well. Bought the hard copy of the game a few days ago, and it's unplayable now from the ridiculous crashing. Started out with the save icon always up, which caused the chunk rendering to be so slow that my sprinting speed catches up to the edge. It used to freeze up during some random saves, and would have go to the home menu and restart as described above.
Now the world won't even load anymore with the same crash message "The software was closed because an error occurred". I even have my rendering and graphic on the lowest possible.
Would like a new update for this fix to be pushed ASAP.
