yes @peashooter it describe my problem and yes, I noticed an upgrade. it could most probably happened in between some dragon fights

is there a way to fix it?

it could be a a moment where laptop ran out of battery while game was running but no dragon fight in between 

No i did not.

What i did was having enough crystals to kill it several times in a row and not returning to the overworld. Maybe paused the game but never save and quit during a fight
