DripCube's method was able to restore both my corrupted character slots, both the one on which I had selected "no eyes" that seems to have started the problem, and the one that was corrupted simply by attempting to alter it after the problem was introduced. It didn't restore my previous characters as they were (it restored them as Alexes) but it got the character slots back and that's all I wanted. I had to try a few times on one of the slots, but it did work, thank you very much.
