Same thing happened with me and my sister. We were just playing and her character's animation went from the normal walking position to being still while she moved to just having her arms extended as if she was a zombie. We noticed that this happens when my sister dies and also we noticed that sometimes when she sleeps, the animations are fixed for the rest of the game until she dies again.
