I didn't know that a piston could push a retracted piston >.< I feel like an idiot now.

Try killing every single mob, and see if any will respawn. There could be some mobs taking up the peaceful mob cap, preventing any from spawning. Do not quote me on this, since I only know this is true for the PC version, and I haven't really played the one in the App store.
