Duplicating is only a temporay fix to the issue that can onyl be performed within creative mode which is only obtainable via OP (if thats what your suggesting)
The permant soution would be creating a new replicure of shulker box with the coloured of the dye instead of colour of default, I am also not sure to if it is a bug or a intended feature in genereal with redstone but the observer block along with redstone input and a piston causes a loop cycle, along side the observer block breaking blocks such as sugar canes and cactus despite obvserver being 1 block away, if it is cactus and sugar cane etc in genreal then I suggest tweaking observer to have a optional function that switchs its radius.
