The crash alert said the following: "Fatal error launching game. Report this to http://bugs.mojang.com please!" So, while working tech support, I initiated this bug report because the Launcher Log instructions asked me to report it.

I read through all of the comments and did not see a resolution for this issue within Mac OS. I noticed a work around for PC's running Norton. I'm on a Mac without Norton.

@ [Mod] Kumasasa: this issue is not resolved. There is no Mac resolution in the duplicate issue thread. Please reopen and suggest a fix.
