I have this problem coming back from The End. Spawning back in bed causes a "Ghost Mode".
Then, I tried picking up my bed, took a trip to The End and spawned in the spawn chunks just fine.
Made a new bed and set my spawn, came back from The End and the issue returned.

I tried this death method and had the same issue, bed and no bed.
1.13.1 seems to fix this issue, respawning back to normal. thank you!
