I had the same problem until earlier today, I opened settings went into storage and deleted all resource packs. Don't know why or how it worked but it did. Hope it works for others with the same problem

For some reason i can only connect with my nephew threw Xbox live if i have my location settings on on my phone. Give this a try, hope things work out for you
