Hello - This is happening to me as well. I am reset to "Steve" if I close and reopen the game after an extended period of time. For instance, if I close and re-open the game after 5 minutes or so, my custom skin will still be active. However, a longer delay between closing and re-opening resets my skin. I haven't tracked the delay thoroughly but a rough estimate would be 30 minutes to one hour delay is enough to reset the skin.

I play on iPad, v. 1.12.0. My husband, on the other hand, has not experienced this issue and we have been playing a mixture of Realms and custom worlds for a couple of weeks together. He plays on a Windows 10 PC, Minecraft version 1.14.4.
