I have been having the same issue. My graphics card is an Intel(R) HD Graphics card 5500 running on Windows 10. I added some screenshots. The shadows are amplified on all entities and chests. All items in the inventory appear completely black unless they are blocks in which case only one side is black. The shadow is always on the north-facing side regardless of the Minecraft time. For reference, the item frames in the first photo have their items mirrored on both sides. Also, I am using a Lenovo IdeaPad as well.
