This is also happening to me. I play on a Nintendo Switch and I found this bug recently. But when you make the world "Infinite", it loads normally.

When trying to create a new survival old world. I set the difficulty to hard, select the bonus chest and activate coordinates. After that, I click to create the world and world is being generated. The progress stops near the end of the generation and the game freezes, without crashing. After closing and opening the game, I tried to open the world, but the same thing happens. I tried other settings while creating new old world types, like enabling creative, choosing a seed, and other stuff, but none of them affect the result: The game freezes while generating the world. The other 2 world types generate normally, withou any issues.
