Sorry while reading through other bug reports I found that the issue is an optifine one, since I was using that as a time, sorry for the inconvenience. Feel free to delete.
I would venture to guess since all infested blocks are instant break that its an intended thing to prevent people from cheesing the game by testing each block before mining them.
