I would like to report this same issue. A 4th generation ipad (model number md513b/a), running iOS 10.3.3, 5GB available storage, fresh install of Minecraft from App Store.
Mojang logo appears (few seconds)
White screen (few seconds)
White screen disappears, return to home screen
Minecraft listed as running (double click home button)

Clicking on it, same thing happens (goto 1.)
PS lost all worlds due to re-install attempt.
