I am sure. i looked at the code, and thats how they get it, approximately. in theory you could do it also with a bow for a short period of time by quickly opening your inventory.
this is no bug at all.

(fun thing to do is to open inventory in survival while being shot by skellington. you can see your dying animation from the third person view)

They should just duplicate the same setup as the other versions, such as windows and linux

Not a bug because that is an exact replication of what you'd see if you were in third person view.
