It must just be a bug for at the moment. That's a bit more reassuring!

I am dealing with the same issue, here. I can add the smooth stone in creative, but I cannot smelt it in survival. However, I am playing on the 1.11 beta, on bedrock, which may already be an issue that is now known. I tried adding a blast furnace to see if I needed to use that and nothing happens. Ive also tried using the stone cutter to see if that's it, and it didn't work. I have not seen a recipe for it and I can't seem to make it with normal stone. Maybe it's just me? I have tried everythin I can think of so far, though.
