I have the same exact problem. I even uninstalled/re-installed JAVA multiple times, which of course probably didn't matter since Minecraft has its own bundled JAVA runtime.
I also uninstalled and re-installed minecraft. It didn't fix anything.
Note that before this launcher came out, I was able to play minecraft, but now I just get this same crash message.
