So, just had this happen again, I think it's related to when the launcher updates itself.

I just had this happen again today. Could this please be reopened and looked into.

I just had this happen on

Edit:

For clarification, it seemed to lose any record of the latest account logged in and the user didn't show up in the accounts list. On the previous time this happened it completely lost both accounts and their credentials had to completely be reentered.

Prior to upgrading to windows 10 I had no issues with going into single player worlds, but after upgrading to windows 10, this particular bug has been happening.

If requested I could provide several of my crash reports, there are two types, the ones in which I have removed the settings to make minecraft be able to find my java and allow it to use more ram and the ones where I haven't removed said settings. I know this is for sure unmodded because this minecraft folder and the profiles in said folder are expressly for my unmodded play and I have my modded minecraft material in a completely separate folder path in order to prevent modded somehow messing with my unmodded. Although, I guess technically my crash report isn't the same as this person's, just that the issue that occurred to them nearly 3 years ago is happening in a very very similar fashion to me right now in that when I click on the single player button it goes to the dirt screen for a couple seconds then crashes. Additionally, I can go to multiplayer just fine.

I just tested and the behavior is unchanged in 15w41b.

They must've put that up while I was in the midst of typing mine up(I happen to know that I took unnecessarily long to type mine up). Sorry.
