I have checked my Xbox Live Online Privacy and Safety settings and everything seems fine there. I keep getting the unable to connect to world message. Do you know if Mojang are working on fixing the issue as it is effecting other people other than myself.

Same here. I cannot join my friends world's from overseas.
Been having the same problem. If I turn everything down to its lowest option then it plays smooth, but it definitely jumps around with higher options
