I followed the instructions for how to resolve the bug that you say this is a duplicate of and it did nothing. What should I do now?

There is no crash report, I opened the crash report folder in my .minecraft folder and the most recent file in there is from over a year ago. The most frustrating thing about this is that I have no indication at all of what is going wrong.
