This is also happening on the launcher for MacOS Sierra, version 2.0.799-stage. It automatically updated then started happening right away. I tried it on a few different versions of Minecraft (1.11.2, 1.7.10, 1.10.2), i tried logging out and back in, nothing makes a difference.
