I have encountered this exact issue. Only, after the cake problem I've experienced other inventory issues.
I was able to recover the crafted cake by restarting my survival world, but lost the ingredients and gained an extra bucket in the process. The crafting didn't consume the third bucket of milk either. Lost a significant number of wheat and eggs in the process.
This problem happens every time a cake is made. Now, fishing no longer catches anything. When the animation for the catch does happen, occasionally, it switches my inventory slot over and nothing appears. Restarting computer didn't help.
Not sure what is up, is my world corrupted?
Playing in windows 10, Minecraft version 1.13.1 bedrock.
