It looks like you are stuck in gm adventure and in cinematic camera. Have you tried toggling it?

I guess this is an intended feature. (because plants can't grow in the dark) — Planted seeds need at least light level 9 in the block above them to grow. (http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Seeds)
