It seems to be related to Debian. I've moved to Linux Mint now and I can play Minecraft just fine. This can be closed.
How is the current status in this matter? Have you looked into it yet?

What does "confirmation status" mean? Does it mean the info on this ticket is up to date or that we've confirmed Mojang is aware of the issue or anything of the sort?
