I am having exactly the same problem. Following a new install of Linux I now have the problem of consistent logins needed.
Additionally I also have problem that following the authentication Minecraft starts but only in demo mode!

WORKAROUND: installing gnome-keyring does indeed solve this problem. Rather annoying for a KDE user!
