It happened to one of my realmmate, emptying everything in his inventory and echest, and spawning him back into the world spawn when he logged in. He also switched platform from ios to android, that might also be one of the reason, which led to the player data reset
Yeah this issue is a bit irritating, I planned to cover the floor with sand blocks, but can't place them continuously, even when placing two of them quickly one disappears. It is a problem is realm and single player world as well.
Now its hard to do large scale building projects due to the block lag. It had been verified by some of my friends playing in the realm.
This problem exists in mcpe, windows 10 edition too

I have also experienced this issue, broke some grass blocks with silk touch shovel, and it didnt drop anything
